Finding Motivation while in a Creative Slump: Creating content goals for 2018

It’s been over six months since I’ve written my last blog. In the spring, I was pre-occupied with preparing for spending the summer in Mozambique with Iris Global and Pioneer 61. When I returned to the US, I was internally processing the trip and next steps (I will write something on the trip soon). I’ve been praying and thinking about where I want this blog to go and if the content adds value to the lives of readers. My goal has always been to produce content that inspires followers and the occasional pop-in reader, but lately I can’t seem to channel the motivation needed to accomplish this (any other content creators struggling?). What makes this hard is trying to keep up with what I’ve already started and making changes at the same time. I don’t want my blog to be a place of random posts, I want each one to have purpose.

I do have creative moments, but it’s usually when I’m not near my laptop. This usually happens while I’m driving (don’t text and drive), on the occasional jog (and I mean OCCASIONAL), in the shower (my Mac isn’t waterproof), or as I’m dosing to sleep (no way I want to get up and type). I am learning to make notes in my phone or in a designated notebook if it’s near me (I just bought a pack of 3 small notebooks for $2.99 at TJ Maxx… SCORE).

As I’m sitting here typing this post, all I can think about is how I need a creative miracle to help me organize all the ideas and thoughts that are swirling in my head. So instead of not producing anything, I’m going to list a few things I will be posting for the month of December and into 2018.

  • Trying out 30-day health challenges on Pinterest and reporting if they work. This includes my current stats, fitness challenges, food plans/recipes, and DIY health products
  • Continuing my “inspiration” posts (formally “Weekly Revelations”)
  • Traveling – Hoping to head to Brazil in 2018, still waiting on the green light
  • For my wives and mothers out there, I will link you to my friend Katondra’s blog. She has some amazing content, and in addition to Katondra, providing more consistent guest bloggers.

This is a good start, if I have it written out, I have you all to hold me accountable for posting. More will probably be added while my blog evolves, and I’ll keep you in the loop on any updates. My hope and goal is to have content on my website at least twice a month, if not more. I have also added my Instagram on the side bar because… DRUM ROLL… my 2018 resolution is to post a photo or a video every day! That’s 365 days of following my random life, and is definitely a challenge (it will probably end up being a bunch of photos of my dog).

The last addition you will notice to my blog is the “Services” tab. This is a link to my page on Fiverr for anyone needing content editing and/or life coaching. I’m super excited about starting this adventure with you all, and can’t wait to connect on a whole different level, and provide services that will benefit my readers outside my blog. All services should be added by the beginning of 2018.

Please let me know if there is anything you would like to see on my blog or if you would like to guest write.

With Love,

Tifa
